The hotel group Golden Hotels & Experiences, known for its strong presence along the Costa Dorada, Costa Brava, and the Barcelona Coast, takes a bold step in architectural innovation with the installation of a next-generation illuminated marquee at the Hotel Golden Port Salou & Spa. This new feature stands out for its modular design, sustainability, and energy efficiency. The 80 m² canopy is integrated into the main entrance roof and functions as a dynamic digital canvas, blending technological innovation with architectural design.
Located in the heart of Salou, the Hotel Golden Port Salou & Spa reinforces its identity as a hub of contemporary hospitality, merging comfort, wellness, gastronomy—and now—immersive technology. The digital lighting becomes a central feature, enhancing the guest experience from the very first moment with a sensory atmosphere that accompanies and guides their journey throughout the space.

A Digital Marquee that becomes a storytelling surface through light
The illuminated marquee is one of the most distinctive features of the hotel’s upgraded entrance. Acting as a digital canvas integrated into a dynamic stretch-fabric ceiling, its 80 m² surface contains over 12,000 RGBW pixels at P82 resolution, capable of projecting real-time audiovisual content. It allows precise lighting adjustments tailored to each event, time of day, or atmosphere, enhancing the identity of the space and deepening the guest experience.

The creative vision and technology behind the project: Lumalia Studio and Channel4you
The lighting concept and design were led by Lumalia Studio, who also managed the manufacturing, installation, and technical programming of the digital ceiling. Channel4you, part of LED DREAM GROUP, was responsible for designing and managing the audiovisual content displayed on the marquee’s surface.
By using RGBW LEDs, the system achieves greater color depth. Each component—panels, LEDs, connectors, fabric, and programming—was custom-made for this project. The entire installation is designed to integrate seamlessly with the hotel’s architecture, including curved or circular surfaces.
The result is an experiential illuminated marquee that functions as a living digital canvas, capable of creating a unique ambiance with content specifically developed for each occasion.

Embracing emerging trends in experiential design and digital lighting
Digital illuminated marquees are becoming increasingly relevant in the architectural design of sustainable and comfortable spaces. They reduce the reliance on direct lighting and promote more responsible energy consumption. These structures are lightweight, flexible, sustainable, and visually impactful. In addition to their aesthetic appeal, they enable efficient light management. The marquee at Hotel Golden Port Salou & Spa is a clear example of how contemporary lighting design trends can be integrated into boutique hotel projects—whether in reception areas, dynamic façades, or personalized interventions—adding a narrative layer and both functional and sensory value to the overall design.
Sustainability and energy efficiency at the core of the experience
Thanks to its modular design, RGBW technology, and point-by-point control, the installation not only allows for customized atmospheres but also optimizes energy consumption. It exemplifies how innovative solutions can reinforce brand identity, deliver visual comfort, reduce the need for direct lighting, and enhance the visitor experience from the moment they enter the hotel.
