L’illa Diagonal, the first shopping center built in Barcelona, is set to conclude an ambitious renovation by the end of 2024 with an investment of 35 million euros, marking an architectural milestone that will redefine the shopping, art, and cultural experience. The refurbishment encompasses both exterior and interior areas, to maintain its status as the reference point for fashion, gastronomy, and lifestyle in Barcelona. With a retail area of 35,000 square meters and 170 stores, L’Illa Diagonal annually welcomes around 14 million visitors. Additionally, it houses two four-star hotels, offices, two schools, a sports center, a nightclub and concert hall, a convention center, a public park, and a parking facility with capacity for over 2,400 vehicles.

The renovation project of L’illa Diagonal has been spearheaded by the esteemed architecture firm Batlleiroig, to enhance user experience and adapt the shopping center to new needs and trends. This involves creating new green and sustainable spaces that foster the connection between people and nature. Alongside improvements in the external environment, new dining areas and rest zones were established, incorporating enhancements in architectural elements such as ceilings, flooring, and staircases. These alterations aim not only to sustain L’illa Diagonal’s relevance but also to enhance users’ overall experience, encourage interaction with green areas, and reinforce the connection between the interior and exterior zones of the complex.

A new concept of digital lighting integrated into the dynamic ceiling of the shopping center: a groundbreaking installation that redefines the notion of lighting experience.

In collaboration with the renowned architecture firm Batlleiroig and the Lighting Artec studio, Lumalia Studio has brought a dynamic surface of 1,100 m2 to life. It serves as a testament to architectural integration and lighting design.

The installation comprises over 200,000 pixels distributed in space and meticulously mapped to operate coherently through the reproduced content. The selection of RGBW LEDs offers extended color depth, and each element was custom-designed and manufactured for the installation’s purpose, including panels, LEDs, connection and distribution elements, and tensioned textiles, all to adapt and integrate with the space. The remarkable surface that hybridizes this concept between lighting and low-resolution screen comes to life through content specially designed for this solution.

L’illa Diagonal’s ceiling transforms into a captivating digital canvas, where abstract movements of light and color dance in harmony, creating animated skies that seem to come alive. The Northern Lights, with their captivating and mysterious allure, emerge as protagonists in this luminous narrative, immersing the environment in a hypnotic dance that transports us to landscapes oscillating between reality and imagination. Through shadow play, an immersive experience is achieved, creating various atmospheres that blend spectacle with subtlety and elegance.

This installation is a visual narrative highlighting the interaction between technology, creativity, and the architectural environment. The fusion of technical and artistic elements creates a unique experience, redefining how light can transform and bring life to a space.

The design and lighting concept was created and directed by the Batlleiroig architecture firm in collaboration with the Artec Studio lighting design studio, with audiovisual production designed by Trigelab. Meanwhile, Lumalia Studio handled the manufacturing, assembly, and installation of the digital canvas on the ceiling, with programming by ProtoPixel. Together, they succeeded in creating a new concept of dynamic lighting for this innovative installation integrated into the shopping center’s ceiling.

With an annual influx of 16 million visitors, the shopping center stands as a testament to technological innovation, architecture, and excellence in design.

As part of this digital overhaul, L’illa Diagonal has partnered with Iwall in Shop to modernize its digital circuit with large-format digital supports located in the mall, complementing the existing 25 opis.

Iwall in Shop collaborated with LED DREAM Group for the supply, assembly, and installation of LED screens distributed inside the shopping center, enhancing the customer experience and attracting top-level advertising companies.

Among the digital elements highlighting the second-floor corridor are two impressive LED screens, along with the digital ceiling canvas, captivating visitors’ attention. One LED screen boasts a total surface area of 17m2, with a brightness of 5000 nits and 3.9mm pixels, while the second LED screen covers 10m2 with similar specifications. A third screen of comparable characteristics will be installed in the coming weeks. To complete the experience, the restyling is complemented by the upcoming installation of 5 P1.9 LED columns, offering exceptional brightness of 2500 nits, ideal for smaller spaces seeking maximum quality content. One column is already visible, with the rest to be installed soon.

Additionally, the marketing of advertising spaces and content management at L’illa shopping center is led by Digital Signage company Iwall in Sshop, boasting a network of over 1,000 screens in 80 shopping centers across Spain and Latin America, with over 600 million annual visitors.

This captivating renovation of L’illa shopping center becomes an urban sanctuary where creativity, technology, and architecture intertwine, offering an unforgettable experience for all who explore this unique space. Puerto Venecia launches a new image and among them is completed with the new dynamic digital facade of more than 140 m2 of total surface.

Puerto Venecia located in Zaragoza, is in the process of an ambitious remodeling project for its outdoor areas. The first phase of the project, the terrace area, which ended at the beginning of this year, is completed with the exterior digital façade. These spaces have always been very emblematic and differentiating for the shopping resort in order to improve the user experience and increase the comfort of its visitors.

New multimedia digital façade with 2D, 3D content and dynamic digital lighting

Puerto Venecia by leddreamIt is one of the most innovative and technological digital elements that make it unique in Spain. A large-format Outdoor experience that combines technology through a two-sided LED screen, with 2D and anamorphic 3D content with synchronized visual effects and digital lighting in die-cut panels with natural themes and dynamic stairs, all in the same space. It is an innovative technological concept that fuses technology and architecture. A wide range of video hardware together with dynamic digital lighting, in addition to combining different synchronized content managers, with ad hoc visual content: dynamic templates for real-time content playback, 2D and 3D content creation. Everything to create a unique and immersive experience in one of the main entrances of the shopping center.

Architecture, LED technology, digital content and digital lighting come together to create a new immersive and highly innovative space.

For this ambitious digitization project, Puerto Venecia has relied on LEDDREAM Group and its integrating partner HubTech, for the transformation of the digital façade of the shopping resort. The Egarense group has taken charge of this Digital Out Of Home experience from the conceptualization, design, development, and execution of the new digital facade of more than 140m2 of total surface. It is a special and innovative project, a totally groundbreaking new digital concept that makes it unique in Spain.

Puerto venecia by led dreamThe LED Display becomes a digital and artistic canvas with a total surface area of 32m2, its main function being informational and entertainment support. With 4.8mm outdoor pixel pitch and powerful brightness for perfect visibility, both day and night. Its uniqueness lies in its angular format, its corner is rounded and not cut at 90 degrees. Different pieces of visual content have been created, from landscapes, nature, way of life, fluids and shapes, bumpers, announcements and corporate events, etc. Particle content with perspectives and 3D depth combined in the part of LED screens and Digital lighting has also been designed.

The dynamic digital facade on die-cut panels: Designed and produced by Lumalia Studio, a company in the LED DREAM group, integrates the space both technologically and architecturally. The facade extends the LED screen in a game of synchrony and contrast, expanding the video content of the screen and contrasting with color ranges and lighting. In conjunction with the stands, it serves as a reflection of the vertical garden of the opposite façade.

Lighting system in the new stands area: This digital element is integrated into the space, it is the dynamic lighting extension along the stands. The content and video effects of the digital facade are expanded in an enveloping way following the movements and color ranges reproduced in a natural way. The indirect lighting bath on the stone emphasizes its texture, filling the space with light and color, especially when daylight falls, complementing the visual spectacularity of the façade with an atmosphere of warmth.

The most anticipated event in the sector, the XVII AECC 2022 Congress closes with more than a thousand visitors and with the exhibition of more than 40 main companies in the sector.

Last June 8th to 10th, we were present as Official Sponsor of the XVIII Spanish Congress of Shopping Centers and Parks, organized by the Spanish Association of Shopping Centers and Parks (AECC) at the Navigation Pavilion in Seville. This new edition became one of the most important events where the current situation in the sector, the evolution of consumer habits, the new technological challenges and the future prospects of the sector were analyzed. Investment in retail, mixed uses or the implications for the real estate sector were also discussed.

During these three days, the shopping center and park sector met again, after two years without being able to do so due to the pandemic, and this year it came back with great force, with several days of conferences, technical visits to commercial spaces, and the delivery of the AECC Awards 2022.

The expectations generated by this XVII Spanish Congress of shopping centers and parks #XVIIICongresoAECC have lived up to it. Under the motto #LaFuerzaQueNosMueve, this first congress has brought together more than 1,000 professionals from the sector in person, and also had the honorary presidency of H.M. King Felipe VI, showing his recognition of a key sector for the country’s economy.

Among the highlights leaves us the event.

Eduardo Ceballos, president of the AECC: Positive trend of recovery in the sector and it is expected that 2019 sales will be reached throughout the year. In the first quarter of 2022, sales have grown by 32.6% compared to the same period of the year past and in 2019, they are only 5.1% below. In terms of influxes, they also show a positive figure, 28.6% more this first quarter than that of 2021, although compared to 2019 they have still received 18.9% fewer visits. The number of shopping centers and parks in Spain remains at 571, and 1,520 million visits have been registered in 2021. Likewise, more than 794,000 jobs have been created, 46% direct and 54% indirect; 4% of the total created in Spain. In terms of sales, in 2021 sales reached 40,399 million euros. This represents an increase of 21.4% with respect to 2020 and a decrease of 13.5% if we compare it with 2019. In terms of forecast openings between 2022 and 2024, there will be 22 new retail parks totaling 459,468 m2.

Technology for the architectural digitization of new creative and digital spaces

Since last April, LED DREAM Group has become part of the Spanish Association of Shopping Centers and Parks (AECC).

The Spanish Association of Shopping Centers and Parks is the meeting point for an industry that bases its success on integration, innovation and competition. The main objective of the Association, created in 1980, is to develop activities aimed at enriching knowledge, fostering relationships and representing the interests of the sector. From the AECC, all those aspects that help the industry of shopping centers and parks in Spain are jointly addressed.

It’s a free, open and independent non-profit Association whose central objective is to constitute the forum for debate and exchange of knowledge about the reality and future of the commercial phenomenon of our time as a response to the needs of today’s consumer.

Formed by nearly 400 Partners and Associate Members, the AECC projects the reality of more than 555 Shopping Centers and Parks throughout Spain, which integrate more than 34,000 merchants and through which more than 1,900 million citizens pass each year.

The Valle Real shopping center located in the Camargo area (Cantabria), has been extensively reformed in order to improve all its internal common areas, and whose works are about to end this year. The project led by Sonae Sierra and (WeAre) Reify, had the collaboration of the construction company Copsesa and INEL-2000, and involved an investment of more than 10 million euros to renovate its common spaces. The objective of this complete internal renovation is to modernize the spaces of the shopping center of more than 48,000 square meters by adding innovative technological solutions, offering a high quality experience to the user, reinforcing its position as one of the reference centers in Cantabria.

For this project of integral renovation of the shopping center, the property has relied on its technological partner LEDDREAM Group, specialist in technological solutions based on LED displays, AV PRO material, digital content and dynamic digital lighting. For the remodeling of the new Bird Land children’s plays area, and the 3 complete toilets of the shopping center.

The project includes the conceptualization, design and execution of all the audiovisual elements. LEDDREAM Group, took over of the project from the manufacture, supply and implementation of audiovisual digital elements and their support structures; the design, creation and adaptation of nature-inspired content in Cantabria for all screens under the Brightsign and Broadsign platforms, through which the implementation of 3D content and various HTML5 templates for the reproduction of dynamic content was carried out; and the implementation of the whole project. BIRD LAND – Playful and visual space for the little ones

bird land en centro comercial Valle RealOne of its most attractive elements is the bird viewpoint called Bird Land, suitable for children from 2 to 12 years old, and in which they can learn about the birds that inhabit the Alday marshes in a dynamic and fun way. Inside the bird viewpoint, LEDDREAM Group has installed high-resolution Black Led screens. The mounting of these visual equipment in a trapezoidal shape and right angle, with inclination to the ground to offer better visibility from the base of the tower is one of the main attractions of this custom project and one of the most complex. For this reason, a modular structure and up to five different sizes of Led screens have been used that allow maximum versatility to achieve this trapezoidal shape, specially manufactured and designed for the project in the Valle Real shopping center.

In addition, LEDDREAM Group has taken charge of the design, creation and management of the informative content on the LED screens and the 3D design and animation of the birds. A “pet-bird” has been created for Bird Land, a mixture of 3D content and HTML5 code and that, in each fraction of 15 minutes of each hour, appears to the amusement and amazement of users marking the hours “cuckoo clock” style . In addition, other ad hoc content has been designed and created, such as those related to the natural landscapes of Cantabria or the various varieties of local birds.

The location of these elements in the men’s and women’s toilets are distributed throughout the center, which makes the project even more striking and differential. They have been supplied and installed 34 interior LED screens of different sizes and shapes, distributed in the 3 toilets of the shopping center, with a high resolution pixel pitch, high quality image processing and color depth. All the screens are synchronized with each other to show content in a unison way and respecting the space of each one thanks to the mapping of the contents.

Aseos centro comercial valle realIn addition, for the toilets were created and engraved pieces with drone adhoc of local natural landscapes; different toilets according to the season of the year have been set through natural textures of that season; On time, content has been carried out according to commercial actions and specific times of the year (Black Friday, Christmas, etc.). Without doubt, the toilets have become differential spaces. The LED technology has been integrated within a glass frame in a very esthetic and subtle way, fully accessible for later maintenance, and perfectly adapted to the space and furniture. It has been designed to avoid water and moisture on the screens, while adding dynamism and modernity to these spaces, and LED DREAM Group through its content partner Channel4you, he has taken over the creation and management of the content on his installed screens.
